Lockdowns And Quarantines Are Causing A Serious Online Gaming Pandemic!

Thursday, 26 March 2020

As the world is dealing with devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic, many governments are employing drastic measures to try to control the outbreak and lessen the effects on people and businesses. Some of these measures such as forced closures of stores, restaurants and other businesses have already endangered large parts of the economy and many companies are already struggling to endure the crisis. In this grave looking situation however, there have been a number of markets that are actually benefiting from these extraordinary circumstances.

Along with the predictable rise in the demand for face-masks, disinfectants and essential foods, there are signs that show an incredible rise in online gaming, in particular: the rise of online poker and casino gaming.

Why are online poker and casino gaming industries booming now?

The answer is actually a simple combination of two factors: first, people are forced to stay home (and in a lot of cases away from work, which provides them with plenty of free time); and second, almost all sporting and entertainment events have been cancelled, leaving people to look for alternative ways to entertain themselves.

In other words, if someones’ goal is to entertain themselves while possibly making some extra money, besides getting into poker or casino gaming, there is not much left to do.

How is this crisis affecting the affiliate gaming industry?

While the effects of the coronavirus outbreak are seriously damaging large parts of the economy, some businesses are actually flourishing. As we pointed out before, quarantine measures taken by many governments around the world are making people stay home and look for ways to stay safe and entertain themselves in these difficult times. With no way to get out, most of the people that are stuck stuck home are looking to get their fun (and money) online.

With sporting events cancelled across the globe, the sports-betting industry is predictably taking a huge hit. While this development might seem pretty bad, it is important to point out the fact that other two major online gaming giants (online poker and casino) are now booming.

The data reported by PokerScout a few days ago showed a whooping 22% increase of weekly and daily cash player numbers in peak hours (as compared to the same numbers in 2019). This shows just how strong the effect of this crisis has become. It is also reasonable to assume these numbers will grow even further in the coming weeks. Predictably, the Italian markets have shown the most significant rise and it is expected that the same effect will hit the Spanish and American markets soon.

Why is this an amazing, unmissable opportunity for affiliate marketing?

If it’s not already clear by now, please notice that in this article, we are writing about online poker and casino businesses. That is the key word here - online. Why is it so important to point this out? Not only because almost all live poker and casino rooms are closed. It is because the players have no other option but to play online. It is also because of the fact that, with most people being home, there is a steady influx of brand new players coming into the industry. This is where good affiliate marketers come in. Using this kind of opportunity is often what makes or breaks a successful business. Experienced marketers already know this. This is the time to move into this game.
